My Hill

In 2015, I ran the San Diego Marathon and was on pace to shatter my PR until I encountered a massive hill at mile 22. It was like running up a vertical wall, and my pace dropped instantly. It was soul-crushing. I did set a PR by less than one second. However, my lack of planning led to major disappointment when I realized I was off my pace.

Though frustrated, I had no time to marinate in my pity. I adjusted my goals and targets to finish the race. I kicked it into overdrive at the top of the hill and finished the race in record time.

If you run into a wall or life knocks you down, regroup, adjust your goals, and carry on.

But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. ~ Isaiah 40:31.
